Agnel Charities, Verna on Wednesday announced setting up of Agnel Institute of Technology and Design at Assagao in North Goa.
Addressing media persons, General Manager (Projects) Jose Noronha informed that the institute will provide courses at graduate level in mechanical engineering and will specialize in areas such as tool design, machine tool design, press working, etc. The institute also has plans of starting more courses in the in future, he said.
Revealing that Agnel Charities has provided 51, 000 square meters of land for setting up this institute, he informed that the Government of India has sanctioned 9 crores and the State Government has sanctioned 6.8 crores.
The college will provide for 60 seats in mechanical engineering and it is envisaged that the admissions will begin in June 2012 which will be carried out as per the Directorate of Technical Education’s norms. The institute, which is expected to be completed by March 2012, will have a mini tool room and training centre.
Noronha also announced establishment of technology-based incubator at Agnel Charities Padre Conceicao College of engineering which is a joint venture of Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India; Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Government of Goa and Agnel Charities.
He further added that the incubator will provide a defined set of services to individuals and small companies including facilitation of technology driven business in the development stage. And will also help new businesses overcome problem in early stage.
To accelerate the process of establishment of the incubator, Agnel Charities has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE), Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad.
Central Government has sanctioned Rs 3 crores while the State Government has sanctioned Rs 1 crore for this project which will start in September 2011, he informed.
