AIADMK announce elections for top leadership on Dec 7

Chennai: The Opposition AIADMK today announced that elections for the top posts of Coordinator and Joint Coordinator will be held on December seven and the results will be announced after counting the next day.

Former Chief Ministers O Panneerselvam and Edappadi K Palaniswami are holding the respective posts.

As per the party bye-laws, Organisational elections has to be held every five years and in line with this, elections to the top two posts has been announced, a release from AIADMK headquarters said.

Filing of nominations will commence tomorrow and continue till 1500 hrs on December four. The scrutiny will take place the next day and the last date for withdrawals is December six.

Elections will be held on December seven and counting of votes will take place the next day. The announcement of elections to the top posts comes a day after the Executive Meeting of the party made amendments to the bye-laws paving way for election of Coordinator and Joint Coordinator through a single vote by primary members of the party instead of at the General Council meeting.

The party also announced holding of organisational elections in two phases to various districts/posts from December 13 to 23. While the first phase elections will be held on December 13 and 14, the second
phase will be held on December 22 and 23.
