After being informed that the government does not have records of the Advocate General Subodh Kantak’s assets, Advocate Aires Rodrigues has now sought information pertaining to the assets of all Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officers posted in Goa for the last five years.
Replying to Rodrigues application under the Right To Information Act, the Law Department stated that it did not have any records of Kantak’s assets and liabilities. Rodrigues has been fighting the government over the exorbitant fees paid to Kantak.
Replying to another RTI application, Rodrigues was informed that though the Chief Secretary and other Secretaries to the Goa Government had furnished their annual property returns, the same has been handed over to the Cadre Controlling authority in Delhi.
Hence Rodrigues has now sought this information along with the property returns of all heads of Goa government’s departments.
He said it was important to obtain this information in the wake of rumours of many IAS and IPS officers having acquired huge properties in Goa and many have transferred them in the names of their kith and kin.
