NRI Affairs Commissioner Eduardo Faleiro called upon voluntary organizations like Forum for Senior Citizens to avail of the different schemes being provided by Union Ministry for Social Justice and Empowerment, while speaking at the third all Goa senior citizens sports meet at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda on Monday.
Speaking further, Faleiro congratulated the organizers for organizing the meet and creating awareness about the need for good health and fitness in older adults. He also said that walking should be the first choice for fitness activities for people above 55 years.
Around 300 senior citizens from different parts of the state participated in this sports festival which was organized by Forum for Senior Citizens of India, Margao, in association with the Sports Authority of Goa. The competitions were held in two categories for men and women between 60 to 65 years and 65 years and above. Senior citizens from South Goa excelled in games like volleyball, football and tug of war.
