Allahabad High Court reunites married couple

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court recently stepped in to reunite a married couple after a habeas corpus plea was moved by the husband alleging that his wife was being detained against her will by her family.

Upon interaction with the wife, Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh was told that she wanted to live with her husband. The interaction took place in the presence of the woman’s father, who had been directed to be present in Court by an order passed on February 18.

The Judge recorded that the woman’s father also did not express further objection to her living with her husband (petitioner), upon witnessing the woman categorically assert that she wanted to live with the petitioner.

The husband, in turn, assured the Court that “he will take good care of her and, provide all rights.”

In view of the same and having reunited the couple, the Court disposed of the matter finally last week.

“Considering the aforesaid, the detenue is set free to go with the petitioner… who has assured the Court that he will take good care of her and, provide all rights to his legally weded wife”, reads the order.

Earlier, the educational certificates were produced to show that both husband and wife were adults. The marriage certificate issued by the Arya Samaj Mandir and Marriage Registration Officer was also produced.
