Chandru Gawas’ suicide over harassment at work place appears to have opened up the can of worms of working conditions in Goa Police as yet another lady constable went missing for nearly five hours alleging harassment.
This time, a lady Head Constable attached to the Police Training School, Valpoi went missing after leaving a “suicide note” for alleged harassment by seniors. A frantic search found her at Porvorim.
While police officials are tight lipped about this case, it is learnt that a departmental enquiry has been initiated with Police Sub Inspector Rajesh Job being assigned the task.
It may be recalled that last week a lady constable attached to the Crime Branch had complained that her senior officer was harassing her after she had refused the sexual favours sought by him.
Last month police constable Chandru Gawas committed suicide while on duty also alleging that he was harassed and had named three senior officials – two Police Sub Inspectors and one Deputy Superintendent of Police.
