Another Liberal Meltdown: The I-T Department raids

On Wednesday, the Income Tax Department conducted simultaneous raids at around 22 locations in Mumbai

On Wednesday, the I-T Department conducted raids on actors and directors associated to Phantom Films. This movie production company was founded by director Anurag Kashyap, producer Vikas Bahl and producer Madhu Mantena. Though, in 2018 the company was shut because of a former Phantom employee leveling charges of sexual harassment against Vikas Bahl.

In a tax evasion case, 22 locations which are linked to Kashyap, Bahl and Mantena were raided along with locations linked to actress Taapsee Pannu. These locations included the premises of the office of Phantom Films, the suspected individuals’ homes and properties at Pune.

A raid was also conducted at the ‘talent agency’ KWAN whose employees had earlier faced the heat of the Narcotics Control Bureau investigation in association with the Sushant Singh Rajput death probe.

As could have been expected earlier before it happened, the ‘liberals’ took to playing their favourite ‘victim card’ hours after the raids were conducted and created a brouhaha regarding the same on Twitter.

The ‘activist’ lawyer Prashant Bhushan tweeted, “Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, actor Taapsee Pannu face income tax raids. BJP’s a team at work to harass, intimidate and silence those who don’t fall in line. India has never seen such mala fide use of I-T dept, ED, NIA, police etc.”

‘Journalists’ like Saba Naqvi, Swati Chaturvedi and Deepal Trivedi all claimed that this was bound to happen and such an incident was predictable. Such comments again were to insinuate that the raids are a case of vendetta and the government is using the agencies like puppets.

According to the infamous fake news peddler under the garb of a ‘fact checker’, Muhammed Zubair, the agencies have been politicized and work on the behest of the government to trouble ‘innocent’ people like Taapsee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap.

Another ‘journalist’ Vir Sanghvi said, “At some point, this strategy will stop working. People will not be scared. They will speak the truth.” This again implies that he wished to spread the message of the agencies being used as instruments to intimidate people who speak the ‘truth’!

On Thursday, the raids on properties linked to the suspected tax evaders continued for the second day in line. Reportedly, properties linked to Shibashish Sarkar, CEO of Anil Ambani’s Reliance Entertainment, Afsar Zaidi, CEO of Exceed and Vijay Subramaniam, CEO of KWAN were also raided on Thursday. As per reports, Taapsee and Anurag were interrogated for long on Wednesday itself.

Allegedly, when Phantom Films was operational, several shell companies (companies which do not have any office or employees and exist only on paper) were started and funds were stalled in these companies. The I-T Department suspects Kashyap and others of using these funds to invest in properties and different assets; whereas Pannu’s role in Tax Evasion is still obscure.

While the raids continued on Thursday so did the meltdown of the left- lobby; even politicians started toeing the line of the ‘liberals’ and expressed their solidarity with the suspects.

While filmmaker Anubhav Sinha plainly expressed his love for both Kashyap and Pannu; Swara Bhaskar called both of them brave warriors!

Rahul Gandhi was seen associating this issue with the farmers’ protests. Although Kashyap and Pannu did not find a mention in his tweet, using some Hindi proverbs, Rahul took jibes at the central government and said the agencies work according to the government’s whims and fancies. He also claimed that ‘friendly’ media is scared of the government and how, seeking vengeance, the government has ordered raids to be conducted on those who are ‘pro- farmers’. He used the hash tag #ModiRaidsProFarmers.

Tagging Taapsee and Kashyap in his tweet, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav called the raids a ‘commendable act’ being sarcastic and blamed the ‘Nazi government’ of threatening individuals for ‘calling spade a spade’.

Maharashtra minister Ashok Chavan claimed that the raids ensued because Pannu and Kashyap are ‘outspoken celebrities’. AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj called the two ‘brave and rare’.

While the raids are expected to be carried out on Friday as well, witnessing a third round of the ‘liberals’ crooning in synchronization to defend the alleged tax evaders can be expected as well. Some other celebrities can also come under the scanner of the I-T Department in the case.

After conducting the raids, the I-T Department issued a statement on Thursday evening. The statement highlighted that the department found seven bank lockers that have been placed under restraint. Another major point to take note of is that the film production company in question has not been able to explain the discrepancy of around 300 crore!

On the one hand, the I-T Department has leveled serious charges on the suspected individuals; while on the other, the left- lobby is already sure of their ‘innocence’ and the vendetta at play. This categorically highlights the hypocrisy imbibed into the people belonging to this cabal. When people of their cohort are interrogated, raided or arrested, the suspects turn into ‘warriors’ fighting an evil and fascist system; without them having even an iota of facts to defend their stance. And all of them start to parrot a single statement- LET THE LAW TAKE ITS OWN COURSE!

On the other hand, if someone who does not toe their line is found to be under similar circumstances, he or she becomes a criminal the moment his or her name emerges and remains to be a criminal even after proved to be innocent in the eyes of law.

For the left cabal, they are the only ‘intellectuals’ with the magical powers of determining a person’s ‘innocence’ by merely looking at his or name!
