Mumbai: Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Monday said anyone who speaks against the policies of the leaders of the BJP, faces action by the Central agencies like ED or the CBI.
The remark came a day after when the ED summoned Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s wife in the PMC Bank money laundering case on December 29.
Speaking to reporters here, Deshmukh also said that the use of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for political purposes had never happened in Maharashtra.
“Anyone who speaks against the policies or leaders of the BJP faces the ED or the CBI, “the NCP leader said.
As far as the CBI is concerned, we had taken a decision that any probe by that agency in Maharashtra cannot be pursued without the permission of the state government.
However, the right of ordering an ED inquiry is with the Central government, but using these rights for the political purposes was something that has never been witnessed in Maharashtra, Deshmukh said.
This year in October 2020, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government revoked the general consent given to the CBI to probe cases in the state.
