Arnab Goswami cannot be arrested for three weeks

New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India in its Interim Order has granted three weeks of interim protection to Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV Network Arnab Goswami.

Two-judge Supreme Court bench, headed by Justice Dr D Y Chandrachud and also comprising Justice M R Shah heard the petition filed by Arnab Goswami, challenging the FIRs registered against him in various parts of the country.

According to the Apex Court, no coercive action can be taken against the petitioner Arnab Goswami.

Goswami can move an anticipatory bail application in three weeks.

Accusations to be investigated through a single FIR in Mumbai and Mumbai police will have to ensure the safety of Arnab Goswami and his family. 

Congress leaders in different states had filed FIRs against Arnab Goswami for exposing the hypocrisy of Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

They were also reportedly upset with the popular news anchor for referring to Sonia Gandhi by her maiden name Antonia Maino.

Goswami and his wife were attacked by two Youth Congress leaders from Mumbai 36-hours ago while he was driving back home from the Republic Studios.
