The Kerala Catholic Renewal Movement, Kerala Catholic Church Reformation Movement (KCRM) and Joint Christian Council along with 12 more organisations and five more nuns who have come out in support of the raped nun, will be on an indefinite strike from tomorrow to protest against the failure of the Kerala Police to arrest Bishop Franco Mulakkal of the Archdiocese of Jalandhar.
The protest is to be held at the High Court Junction and the protesters will be demanding for an immediate arrest of the accused rapist Bishop Franco Mulakkal.
Speaking on the indefinite strike called and alleging that the Catholic along with the police are protecting the accused rapist, Joseph Varghese, Joint-Secretay, KCRM, said,”We are disappointed that the Catholic Church has not taken action to ensure justice is done for the nun and taken measures against Bishop Franco. The police has already registered an FIR and questioned the Bishop. The High Court has directed the Kerala Police to arrest the accused rapist at the earliest. We believe that police has joined had with Church to protect the rapist.”
“We will not stop our protest until the nun gets justice and Bishop Franco is arrested,” Varghese further added.
