The family of the Nun who exposed to vile act of rape by the Bishop of the Archdiocese of Jalandhar, Franco Mulakkal is to approach the High Court in Kerala once again over the delay in the arrest of the accused rapist, who sexually abused the victim fourteen times.
The High Court of Kerala in its Order last month directed the Kerala Police to arrest Bishop Franco Mulakkal at the earliest.
While the report of the probe on the allegations of rape levelled by the Nun on the Bishop has been submitted to the DGP Kerala; in a closed door meeting earlier this week, the police authorities had decided to issue summons to the accused to be present in Kerala for further questioning instead of issuing arrest orders.
The family of the Nun have raised concerns of the repeated questioning of the victim while the accused rapist – a senior leader of the Catholic Church – has been questioned only once.
The victim and her family are distraught at the failure of the police to arrest Bishop Franco, even though the Kerala Police have nailed the lies and contradictions of the accused rapist in their interrogations.
In attempt to bury the case, people linked to Bishop Franco have approached the Nun and her family with compensation of Rs 5 crore and 10 acres of land. The victimised Nun has also alleged a threat to her life.
