Vatican, Sept 15 (GCNews) Post the letter of the Nun to the Apostolic Nuncio of India – the Vatican representative office – detailing her sexual abuse ordeal and harassment by Bishop Franco Mulakkal of the Archdiocese of Jalandhar, GoaChronicle.com has learned through its informed sources that the Vatican will appoint a probe team to investigate into the allegations levelled on the Bishop by the Nun.
The Vatican representative from India is in Vatican City and had a scheduled visit to discuss the critical case with Pope Francis and senior religious leaders of the Catholic Church.
GoaChronicle.com has also learned that during course of the Vatican probe, Bishop Franco Mulakkal will be asked to step down from the responsibilities of the Bishop and resign.
The step from the Holy See has come amidst huge criticism the Catholic Church is facing in India due to the rape case of the nun by the accused Bishop.
Few days ago Pope Francis ordered an investigation into the sexual misconduct by an American bishop Michael J. Bransfield who recently resigned from the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, West Virginia. The pontiff, on Thursday, met the US Catholic church leaders to discuss the scandal that has sparked a furore over clergy abuse crisis.
