Asian American Hotel Owners Association has shown keen interest to invest in the tourism sector in Goa including construction of hotels besides promoting Goa as a tourist destination in the United States of America.
This was revealed at an interactive session between Tourism Minister Nilkant Halarnkar and his officials and over 30 members of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association recently.
While the minister assured all help to the investors in tourism sector, Tourism Director Swapnil Naik emphasized that besides the much publicized beaches, Goa has a lot more to offer particularly in heritage tourism through its ancient temples and churches.
A senior officer bearer of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association C K Patel while pointing out that there was lot of scope for hotels in India as the country was emerging as a major destination, said his association would help the State to promote Goa as a tourist destination in America.
He also invited Goans to holiday in the USA which has much to offer to its visitors.
Swapnil Naik while conceding that Goa has only its natural beauty to offer to visitors and lacks in artificially created tourist attractions, revealed that the Department was proposing to have a series of meetings and programmes in February in the USA to promote Goa as a tourist destination to the American citizens.
Joint Secretary Anupam Kishore also pointed out the opportunity available by way of medical tourism in the State as several state of art hospitals are functioning in Goa and some more are being set up.
