Asian Games 2018: Ankita Raina wins Bronze medal in Tennis

Jakarta, Aug 23 (UNI) Ankita Raina has to settle for bronze medal in the women’s singles event after losing to China’s top seed Shuai Zhang 0-2 in the 18th Asian Games on Thursday.

Despite given a tough fight from Raina, Chinese player Shuai Zhang’s won 6-4, 7-6, in 2 hours and 11 minutes.

Ankita is only the second Indian player to win a medal in women’s singles at the Asian Games after Sania Mirza’s silver in 2006 and bronze in 2010.

With Thursday’s bronze, the 25-year-old Ankita became only the second Indian woman to have her name in the Asian Games’ singles medallists list.
