New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday congratulated West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and DMK president M K Stalin as the trends showed that their parties are heading towards a comfortable victory in their respective states.
“Congratulations to the Chief Minister of West Bengal, @MamataOfficial Didi on her party’s victory in West Bengal assembly elections. My best wishes to her for her next tenure,” the Defence Minister tweeted. The Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) is currently leading in 206 out of 294 assembly seats while BJP is ahead on 78 seats.
In other two separate posts, Mr Singh congratulated the DMK president and extended his good wishes to him. Similarly, he wished the Kerala Chief Minister.
As per latest figures, the DMK has established leads in 120 of the 234 Assembly seats on its own and the alliance led by it is leading in 141 seats, currently.
Trends from Kerala showed that Mr Vijayan-led LDF has managed to beat the anti-incumbency and return for a second consecutive term, altering the four-decades-long electoral tradition in Kerala. As per latest report, LDF was leading in 90 of the total 140 seats while opposition UDF was ahead in 47 seats and BJP-led NDA ahead in three seats.
