Baku: Azerbaijan has no military targets and interests on the Armenian territory, the Defense Ministry said on Wednesday, at the same time pledging to destroy Armenian facilities planning attacks on civilian targets.
Earlier in the day, the Armenian Defense Ministry accused the Azerbaijani military of attacking military equipment that was on alert in Armenia. Commenting on this, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry stressed that Armenia’s tactical ballistic missile systems were targeted against Azerbaijan’s civilian facilities and infrastructure. The ministry accused Armenia of shelling Ganja, Mingecevir and other Azerbaijani settlements.
“Azerbaijan has no military targets and interests on the Armenian territory. It is Armenia who deliberately tries to expand the conflict area when it opens fire from its territory on Azerbaijani settlements. We announce that Azerbaijan reserves the right to neutralize legitimate military targets in order to secure the safety of its civilian population and Azerbaijani settlements,” the Azerbaijan Defense Ministry said in a statement.
