Panchayats Minister Manohar Azgaonkar highlighted the importance of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme while speaking at the launch of construction of compound wall under NREG scheme at Village Panchayat, Ozari in Pernem on Friday.
He said minimum wages for unskilled and semi-skilled persons between the age group of 18-60 would be given for a minimum of 100 days so that each house will be able to earn at least Rs.10,000 to Rs.15,000 per year under this scheme. He therefore, advised the Panchayats to make necessary efforts to bring agricultural and allied activities under this scheme for boosting rural economy.
Reviewing development works, Azgaonkar informed that various development projects like construction Ozari-Pirna bridge, hot mixing of roads and construction of community halls have been taken up in Ozari and its surroundings.
He also appealed to the people to remain united and cooperate with Government’s endeavours to accelerate pace of development in Pernem taluka and assured to undertake works which include construction of drainage system, roads and other facilities in the area.
