Education Minister Babush Monserrate was firm on implementing the “No Detention” policy for the current academic year and said schools have no option but to follow it. He also asserted that the Right to Education Act will be implemented in Goa in a phased manner.
Emerging from a meeting with Chief Minister Digambar Kamat where he was accompanied by Education Secretary V P Rao, Director of Education Celsa Pinto and other officials, Monserrate stated that there was no question of revoking the “No Detention” circular.
He also announced plans to form an advisory body to guide the government in implementing the RTE Act.
On the Medium of Instruction issue, he said the Congress Party is trying to find a solution to it.
