The bandh call given by the villagers, Balli remained totally closed on Tuesday but traffic along the National Highway passing through the village was not affected as it was exempted from the bandh.
The bandh was observed to protest against the harassment of villagers by the Crime Branch officials of Goa Police in connection with the 25th May incident in the village.
The authorities had made elaborate security arrangement with around 300 police personnel deployed in the village which included the Rapid Action Force and Central Industrial Security Force.
While Superintendent of Police visited the Cuncolim Police Station in the morning to check the arrangements, Deputy Superintendent of Police Umesh Gaonkar camped in the village the whole day.
Tight security was also maintained at the Adarsh society building and Achal factory which were burnt on 25th May.
