Battle for Jharkhand: 46.83 per cent average voter turnout till 1300hrs during polling on 13 seats of Jharkhand

Ranchi, Nov 30 (GCCurrentAffairs) An average voter turnout of 46.83 per cent has been reported in the six hours (till 1300hrs) of polling currently underway on 13 seats of Jharkhand in the first phase of the Vidhan Sabha Elections.

Constituency wise the polling percentage in these 13 segments was following: Chatra 46.21 per cent, Gumla 41.90 per cent, Bishunpur 41.39 per cent, Lohardaga 48.72 per cent, Manika 45.17 per cent, Latehar 52.14 per cent, Panki 45.20 per cent, Daltonganj 45.40 per cent, Bishrampur 45.80 per cent, Chattarpur 47.40 per cent, Hussainabad 46.80 per cent, Garhwa 46.32 per cent and Bhawnathpur 53.13 per cent.

Voting in these seats will continue till 1500hrs.

Meanwhile, a report from Palamu said a scuffle broke out between the supporters of BJP MLA Alok Kumar Chourasia and those belonging to Congress nominee KN Tripathi.

Tripathi accused Chourasia and his supporters of booth capturing while the BJP candidate maintained that since Tripathi and his bodyguards were threatening the voters and showing pistol to them, the people had got angry.

The Congress candidate has demanded repolling on many booths of Chainpur.

Chief Electoral Officer Vinay Kumar Choubey said the DC of Palamu has been ordered to take necessary action on the matter.

He said that the commission has sought a report from the district administration over the issue after which necessary action will be taken.
