Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch on Tuesday said Goa was a fit case for President’s rule as the democratically elected government is violating the Constitution.
Former IAS officer Arvind Bhatikar, said Governor S S Sidhu would be well within his rights to dismiss the Digambar Kamat led government.
He pointed out that the cabinet decision over the medium of instruction was done totally unconstitutionally as the Cabinet Secretary who has to move any proposal before the cabinet, was bypassed over this matter.
Besides, he said the cabinet took the decision without Finance Secretary’s nod even though the Education Secretary’s noting that the decision would involve financial implication.
Meanwhile, BBSM Convenor Shashikala Kakodkar gave a call to the people to gherao Congress MLAs and Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Subhash Shirodkar demanding from them their stand on the medium of instruction.
She accused ministers Ramkrishna Dhavlikar, Babu Azgaonkar and Vishwajit Rane along with Speaker Pratapsing Rane and MLA Dipak Dhavlikar and Subhash Shirodkar of being hypocrites over this issue as they claimed to be supporting the regional languages but remained silent over the government’s decision.
