Buoyed by the success of its bandh on Monday, the Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) has now set a fresh deadline of 18th June for the government to change its policy on the medium of instruction.
Pointing out that 18th June is observed as Goa Revolution day to commemorate T B Cunha’s call to revolt against the Portuguese regime, BBSM convenor Shashikala Kakodkar said it was apt to give the government a deadline on that day itself.
She also called upon ministers Manohar Azgaonkar, Nilkant Halarnkar and Sudin Dhavalikar who had spoken in support of the regional languages to resign from the cabinet on that date.
She also demanded that ministers Ravi Naik and Vishwajit Rane along with speaker Pratapsing Rane spell out clearly their stand on the medium of instruction.
Pointing out that the bandh call given by them was a success, she said the chief minister should now realize that people are against his policy on the medium of instruction.
