Addressing media persons on Friday, BBSM Convener Shashikala Kakodkar said that more than 100 sarvajanik (public) Ganeshotsav mandals will be asked to focus their entertainment programmes towards educating people on MoI issue. She also informed that various organizations celebrating this on a mass scale will put up exhibitions depicting state government anti-people policy of imposing English on children.
Pointing out that these public celebrations would be used to lodge protest against the government, BBSM Leader Subhash Velingkar opined that eliminating Konkani and Marathi from elementary education will result in loss of losing our culture.
BBSM has also decided to distribute two lakh rakhis on the day of Raksha Bandhan which will be held on 13th August.
Kakodkar said Rakhsha Bandhan depicts brother’s love towards his sister and the brother pledges to save his sister from the evils. “We want to adopt this concept to protect our mother tongue,” she said.
