The Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Mandal (BBSM) while reiterating its resolve to go ahead with the Goa bandh on 6th June pointed out that it has the support of government allies the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Speaking to media persons BBSM activist Pundalik Naik said opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party and also the Shiv Sena has supported their cause and added that the government will have to revoke its decision on the medium of instruction.
While asserting that Indian languages have survived because of masses and not political patronage, he said BBSM activists were willing to lay down their lives for the cause.
BBSM convenor Shashikala Kakodkar clarified that their agitation was going to be totally peaceful and pointed out that emergency services like pharmacies, ambulances and hospitals have been exempted from participating in the bandh.
While revealing that even some Congress legislators are supporting them, Kakodkar further said that 67 institutions have extended support to their agitation.
