Bharat Vir Wanchoo Swears In As State Guv
A Guard of Honour was presented to the new Governor by the police after the swearing-in ceremony.
Speaking to reporters, Governor Bharat Vir Wanchoo said that Goa has made tremendous progress in terms of growth and development and further added that it is necessary to maintain balance between the growth and development considering the environment aspect.
The Governor was also confident that the people of Goa and the State Government will extend full co-operation to him in furthering the well being of the people and prosperity of the state. He sought co-operation and support of all the people in discharging his constitutional duties.
Wanchoo was the founding member of the Special Protection Group and served in that Organisation twice, before he was appointed as its Chief in 2004. He was Chief of the Special Protection Group for seven years. For his meritorious services, he was awarded the Indian Police Medal in 1993 and later he was awarded the President’s Police Medal in 2001. Wanchoo superannuated from Special Protection Group on 31st October 2011.
