Nashik: Maharashtra Food, Civil Supplies and District Guardian Minister, Chhagan Bhujbal on Monday inspected the paddy crop damaged due to recent heavy rains at Khambale in Igatpuri taluka and assured the farmers that the state government will provide more assistance to them after reviewing the crop losses mentioned in the ‘Panchnama’.
While interacting with the farmers, Bhujbal said that heavy rains have severely damaged the crops in the district and informed that instructions have been given to the district collector to immediately inquire into the crop losses.
Once the district administration submits the report of the ‘Panchnama’, the cabinet will take a decision and announce the financial help soon. If required, the state government will send a proposal to the central government and ask for more assistance for the farmers, the Minister said.
Despite the financial crisis due to lockdown in the wake of Corona pandemic for the last Eight months, about Rs 20,000 crore have been provided to farmers through the Mahatma Phule Debt Waiver Scheme, he informed and said the state government is now trying to provide all the necessary assistance in the aftermath of the damage caused by the recent heavy rains.
The Chief Minister of the state is also inspecting the rain-hit areas, Bhujbal said, adding, the concerned departments have been instructed to take immediate measures.
