Washington: US President Joe Biden spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday in the first phone call after becoming president and raised the issue of election meddling, the White House said.
During the conversation the two leader also spoke about the ongoing opposition protests in Russia.
A statement issued by the Kremlin said that the conversation was “business-like and frank” and there was no point of friction between them.
Both the leaders also signaled their willingness to renew the countries’ last remaining nuclear deal. The two presidents also discussed the massive SolarWinds cyber-attack, which has been blamed on Moscow; reports that the Kremlin placed bounties on US soldiers in Afghanistan; and the poisoning of Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny.
