Patna: Bihar Education Minister, Mewalal Chaudhary resigned from his post on corruption charges, apparently after hues and cries were raised against his appointment as Minister.
Chaudhary was administered oath of the Minister in Nitish cabinet on November 16.
He was allotted the portfolio of Education department on November 17.
Chaudhary, resigned soon after he has taken charge of his department.
Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar called Chaudhary after he has taken the charge of his
allotted department and asked him to resign following which he quit the post. His resignation letter was sent to Governor Fagu Chauhan by Chief Minister, Kumar for acceptance.
Chaudhary is facing the charge of irregularities allegedly committed by him in
appointment of Assistant Professors and Junior Scientists during his tenure as Vice-Chancellor of Bihar Agriculture University, Sabour.
“An accusation is proven only when a charge sheet is filed or a court gives an order and
none of the two is there to prove the allegations against me”, Chaudhary had said earlier in the day.
