Tourism Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar on Wednesday, introduced the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade (Amendment) Bill that provides for registration of all eco-tourism activities in the State including water sports and spice farms.
The bill seeks to regulate these activities and also provides for imposing fines on those found violating the provisions of the law.
The bill also brings tour operators promoting these activities under its ambit.
Besides, the bill also seeks to enhance the penalty for violators from existing Rs 10,000 to Rs 1,00,000 and also provides for strong action against hoteliers and travel agents for not renewing their registration. Defaulters are likely to get their names struck off the register.
