Birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar to be celebrated only at Social Welfare Office

Panaji: The Goa Government on Saturday said that it had decided to celebrate the 129th birth Anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on April 14, 2020, strictly in the head office premises of the Directorate of Social Welfare in the city with skeletal staff of the Directorate by garlanding the Portrait of Dr Ambedkar at the hands of the Director of Social Welfare.

According to a statement, the decision was arrived in view of the Coronavirus pandemic and the imposing of the lockdown to contain the spread of epidemic.

Birth Anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution of India, is celebrated every year on April 14 and in recognition of the same, State Level public function is celebrated at Ambedkar Garden, Panaji, where the statue of Dr. Ambedkar is garlanded by dignitaries in the presence of community people and other public in general.

“All organizations are advised not to organize the public function in view of the health emergency forced by Covid 19,” the statement added.
