New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has assured the Christians delegation all possible help to the communities and organisations that are facing difficulties in areas like the Foreign Contribution (Regulation)Act and other organisational matters.
According to the statement made by Bishop Theodore here on Tuesday that they briefed the Home Minister about the various difficulties that the Christian Communities are facing now a day.
He placed before Singh the difficult situation through which Christians are going through in Jharkhand where the Christian NGO’s are feeling threatened and selectively targeted by the authorities especially through an investigation in the FCRA accounts of 88 NGOs all of which are Christian.
He also briefed him that how they are troubled the way the investigations were launched into the accounts of these NGOs by Anti Terrorist Squads, the State CID Department and the Income Tax Authorities and sometimes just six or 12 hours were given to present the accounts.
The CBCI head briefed the Minister about the difficulties faced by the Missionaries of Charity.
CM Sangma also spoke very strongly on the need to attend to the fears and apprehensions of the Christian Community. He described to the Home Minister, the dedicated services of the Mother Teresa Sisters and other Missionaries.
He also pointed out that the Sisters and Missionaries sacrifice everything to serve the poor and the marginalised. Sangma told the Home minister that it was shocking that the Anti terrorist squads were deployed to investigate the missionaries.
Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas, along with Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangmacalled upon Rajnath Singh, at the residence of the Minister on September 3.
