Alleging that the burning of Adarsh Co-operative Society building at Balli on Wednesday evening was a conspiracy, the Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded a judicial probe into the incident.
Speaking to Goa Chronicle.Com, Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar asserted that the two buildings were torched in a well planned manner with tacit support from the administration as police remained mute spectators.
“The police did not try to stop the miscreants from burning the building even though they were there in full force. Besides, the Fire Services were taking their own time to arrive at the scene and only after I called up the Director of Fire Services, fire tenders were rushed there,” he said.
He alleged that some political force was behind the incident and added that the act of arson was planned to give the UTAA and its leaders a bad name.
“The government has to probe into this matter wherein two persons have been murdered in the most brutal manner,” he said.
He also pointed out that the buildings were burnt long after the agitation was called off and the protestors had returned home.
“Around six UTAA activists had gone to the society building to have a cup of tea when they were targeted,” he said.
