BJP flays Rahul over 2008 agreement with China

New Delhi: Citing the MoU signed by the principal opposition party with Chinese Communist Party in 2008, the BJP on Tuesday alleged that Congress Rahul Gandhi was trying to divide the nation and demoralise armed forces.

BJP president J P Nadda tweeted, ‘First, Congress signs MoU with Chinese Communist Party. Then, Congress surrenders land to China.

‘During Doklam issue, Rahul Gandhi secretly goes to the Chinese embassy,’ he added.

He said during crucial situations, Mr Gandhi was trying to divide the nation and demoralise armed forces, and asked were these ‘Effects of MoU?’

In 2008, Mr Gandhi, then a Congress general secretary, and Xi Jinping, then a senior functionary of Communist Party of China (CPC) and the current President of China, had signed the MoU to facilitate a high-level exchange the two parties to consult each other over important regional and international issues.

Earlier, Mr Gandhi tweeted that ‘We stand united against the Chinese invasion. Has China occupied Indian land?’
A day before also, Mr Nadda in his tweet addressed to Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Congress, said, ‘Please stop insulting our forces repeatedly, questioning their valour. You did this post the airstrikes and surgical strikes. Please understand the true meaning of national unity, especially in such times. It’s never too late to improve.’

In his rebuttal to Dr Singh ‘s statement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be mindful of the implications of his words, Mr Nadda has said ‘UPA personified systematic institutional erosion of that office, combined with disrespect for our armed forces. NDA has reversed that!’

Continuing his tirade again Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the India China border stand-off, Mr Gandhi on Monday wondered why was the Chinese media praising Mr Modi’s comments at the all-party meeting.
