The Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party is planning to ask the government to hold a special session of the Goa Legislative Assembly to discuss the Medium of Instruction and Lokayukta Bill.
Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar disclosed that the Legislature wing of the party will meet shortly to draft the petition.
He said the decision on medium of instruction was not in accordance with the High Court order that had directed the government to decide the policy at least six months in advance.
“Instead the policy has been announced a few days before the schools are scheduled to re-open thereby making it un-implementable,” he said.
Accusing Chief Minister Digambar Kamat of personally blocking the Lokayukta Bill for the last four years, he said a slight change in the bill that was introduced by his government, would have made it a reality and said that was the reason why a special session of the Assembly was required.
