BJP is waiting for final word from high command on mining

Dona Paula, December 1 (GCCurrentAffairs): Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday discussed the issue of resumption of the industry with the BJP MLAs.

Parrikar, 62, who is recuperating at his private residence held meeting with the party MLAs which was attended by nine out of 13 legislators.

“The highlight of the meeting was discussion on the mining issue. It is decided that the moment the election process in three states is over, BJP will prevail upon High Command of BJP to act fast and see that some solution is worked out to resume mining industry,” State Panchayat Minister and BJP MLA Mauvin Godinho told reporters after the meeting.

BJP Goa Unit Chief Vinay Tendulkar also attended the meeting, which went on for one and half hour in the evening.

Godinho said that the BJP leaders in Goa are waiting for the final word from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other party leaders with whom the issue has been placed.

The Iron Ore mining industry in the State has come to standstill since March this year after Supreme Court quashed 88 mining leases.

Godinho said that the Chief Minister also discussed developmental works in all the constituencies.

“We met CM after a long time. Everything about development in al the constituency was discussed. Everything about running of the administration was discussed. Everything was discussed to streamline functioning overall,” he said.

The minister said that the strengths and weaknesses of different departments were discussed during the meeting which also took stock of the situation, where government needs to tone up.

Godinho said that the need for everyone in the government to work together was discussed during the meeting considering a fact that State will soon be facing Parliamentary election and by-election in two Assembly Constituencies.

Mandrem and Shiroda Assembly constituencies will go for by-election as MLAs from both the places have resigned from Congress to join BJP.

“ Parrikar individually asked every MLAs about their difficulties. What difficulties they encounter because he is sick and not be available for day to day,” he said.
