BJP leaders, Union Minister Sarangi demand actions on ‘Shaheen Bagh’ protest video

New Delhi, Jan 25 (GCCurrentAffairs) The row over ‘protest’ at Shaheen Bagh locality in poll-bound national capital has grown bigger with a video showing call for ‘separation and isolation’ of Assam from the rest of India going viral.
The BJP on Saturday said there is ‘evidence’ of conspiracy to harm India at Shaheen Bagh protest.
A number of BJP leaders including Union Minister Pratap Sarangi have demanded exemplary actions against the wrongdoer.
“…….To finish off India’s independence, some kind of conspiracy is there in Shaheen Bagh. We have evidence to that effect,” BJP spokesman Sambit Patra told reporters here.
“….the video speaks about creating several divisions of India and to cut off Assam and north east India from the rest of the country. It seems there is a full fledged conspiracy to harm India, this is a call for open Jihad,” he said.
In Assam, the state government has also taken cognizance of the video and Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in Guwahati that a formal case will be registered against the individual who is seen making those statements in the video.
“The main organizer of Shaheen Bagh protest (in Delhi), has said that Assam should be cut off from the rest of India. State govt has taken cognizance of this seditious statement and has decided to register a case against him”, Mr Sarma said.
Notably, on Friday, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has said that the protestors were misguided by vested interests and are also raising “anti-national and anti-Hindu slogans”.
“These activities must be stopped forthwith,” VHP international secretary general Milind Parande has said.
“This is an act against the country….exemplary actions should be taken. Those who glorify terrorists like Afzal Guru cannot be Indians,” Mr Sarangi said.
Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari said the people of Delhi will give a ‘befitting response’ to elements who have rendered support to these people.
BJP leaders Anil Jain and Rita Bahuguna Joshi also called for actions against the person who is seen in the video making such statements.
In the video one Sharjeel Imam is heard saying among other things – “If we have five lakh organised people then we can permanently cut north-east from India for one month. It is our responsibility to isolate Assam from India, then only they will listen to us”.
