BJP MLA Wagh attacked by a mob of 50 plus hoodlums

BJP St Andre MLA Vishnu Surya Wagh was last night attacked by a mob of over 50 hoodlums in Revora, Tivim while leaving a Prayer Service organised by the NCP Goa President Nilkanth Halankar.  The prayer service was organised with the aim of asking God to change the government from one that loves the rich to one that loves the common man.

A mob of over 50 people stopped him at Revora when he was leaving the venue of a Kirtan at Nadode temple. They attacked his car, by breaking the window glasses and roughed up Wagh. The attackers were suspected BJP cadres.

His car was smashed to smithereens and the vocal MLA who is known not mince words on the various social and political grievances even with his own government is now undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College (GMC) in the Critical Care Unit (CCU).

Over the last couple of months political circles were buzzing about the possibility of Wagh contesting the Lok Sabha 2014 Election from North Goa on an NCP ticket thereby leaving BJP fold. Sources close to Wagh have revealed that their political leader has met with both the NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar as well as Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

Apparently they did not like the idea of Vishnu Wagh attending the kirtan programme which was set up by Nationalist Congress Party’s Nilkanth Harlarnkar. Independent Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai was also at the venue and when the mob tried to attack him, he managed to flee to safety.

Vishnu has filed a case at the Mapusa police station.
