New Delhi: BJP has planned weeks-long celebrations to mark the 70th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17.
According to sources, the celebrations across country, that will commence on September 14, the reconvening of Budget Session of Parliament, will culminate on October 2.
As part of BJP’s anti-plastic campaign, the celebrations will include distribution of carrying bags made of cloth, holding blood donation camps, free eye check-up camps, spectacle distribution and plasma donation among others.
According to Haryana BJP chief Om Prakash Dhankar, “party’s priority during the celebrations will be public welfare.”
“Among the programmes, people who have recovered from Coronavirus infection, will be requested to donate plasma and we will be giving a lot of emphasis on environment protection,” Mr Dhankar said.
“We will be appealing to people not to use plastic bags and instead use cloth bags. Subsequently, eye-checkup camps and blood donation camps will also be organised,” he said.
Incidentally, September 17 coincides with ‘Tarpan,’ paying reverence to ancestors.
