Though some quarters have been questioning the moves of the CM especially the lobby working against grants to English as MoI, the overall feedback from different lobbies which had taken the MoI issue is that the decision is balanced and also progressive.
Most of all the rabbit in the hat is the brownie points scored by the CM with the Diocesan Society of Goa; by allowing grants to continue to those schools that have already converted to English, since it was most Church run schools that were behind the MoI issue.
Congress on the other hand is shamelessly applauding the action of the BJP. The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), president, said, “It is a good and balanced decision by the CM.” However he refused to comment on why the Congress did not resolve this issue.
Churchill Alemao the former PWD minister of the Congress party, while giving the CM – Manohar Parrikar a pat on his back, has also demanded that the Congress High Command initiate an inquiry into why their former CM – Kamat failed to implement the solution to the MoI.
BJP with the MoI has certainly cemented its position in the Salcette bastion, while Congress continues to be clueless and rudderless, with its own leaders blaming each other.
