New Delhi, Jan 10 (GCCurrentAffairs) The BJP on Friday charged the opposition parties with pursuing the politics of appeasement and promoting hooliganism by announcing ‘pension’ for anti-CAA protestors.
In reference to Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s announcement that she will not attend the opposition leaders’ meet in Delhi on January 13, BJP spokesman Sambit Patra said it is purely guided by political motives and politics of appeasement.
“Mamata Banerjee is stating this, because she does not want a divided Muslim vote in Bengal,” Mr Patra told reporters here.
He said the Opposition parties are now “exposing” each other.
“We are not saying this, they are competing in the game of polarisation. Truth has been revealed. Mamata Banerjee has blamed the Congress and CPI(M) for arson and violence changing her stand, she now say she is disappointed by the nasty politics of Congress and CPI(M),” he said.
“All these leaders who were playing the ‘2020 politics of appeasement’ are now exposing each other”, he said and maintained that while on one side Prime Minister Narendra Modi talks about ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Saath’, the opposition leaders are pursuing only vote bank politics by trying to mislead one section of people.
“Team Priyanka (Gandhi) is also part of this 2020….,” he said in reference to the Congress party.
In reference to announcement by Samajwadi Party leaders in UP that the anti-CAA protestors will be given pension, she ridiculed the principal opposition party Congress over the issue.
“You create arson, set buses on fire and take pension….what can be more ridiculous than this”, he said adding what kind of politics is that which seeks to promote and reward ‘hooliganism’.
He said even Congress leaders such as Priyanka Gandhi has said that those killed during anti-CAA protest will be declared as ‘martyrs’ if the Congress comes to power.
“This is the same party, which had said Indian Army chief is Goonda; and those who are indulging in violence and setting buses on fire, those burning the country are martyrs. Is this the definition of martyrdom for Congress?,” Mr Patra said.
Releasing a video, the BJP spokesman claimed that AAP leader Shoaib Iqbal’s son Aley Mohammed Iqbal (a councillor) made highly controversial and ‘instigating’ speech near Jama Masjid locality recently.
