Bharatiya Janata Party’s Mahila Morcha on Monday led a morcha of around 200 women to the official residence of the Chief Minister and then a 15-member delegation called on Chief Minister Digambar Kamat urging him to control the sky rocketing prices of essential commodities which they argued was making life miserable for the aam admi whose welfare the Chief Minister claims to be committed to.
The 15-member delegation was led by Mahila Morcha President Kunda Chodankar. They presented a memorandum to the chief minister giving a comparative list of prices of essential commodities to highlight how expensive it has become for the common man to live in present times.
The memorandum also made a point that essential commodities were cheaper when the BJP was ruling the centre and sought to know why the prices went up only after the Congress came to power.
Later speaking to media persons, Kunda Chodankar said the chief minister had assured to subsidize essential commodities through the Goa Horticulture Corporation outlets but added that this will not solve the problem as the outlets just cannot cope up with the demand.
She also said that the chief minister had agreed to their suggestion to subsidise milk from Goa Dairy for the consumers.
