In yet another case of negligence due to failure to follow safety measures, one persons died and two others were seriously injured on Thursday morning at a scrap yard at Fatorda while cutting a molasses tanker.
The incident occurred at around 11 am at the scrap yard at Chandrawado in Fatorda which belongs to Aman Mulla.
Three labourers were working on cutting the tanker that was used to transport molasses when the tanker suddenly burst and Gillu Pawar from Sangli was flung 10 mts away. While Gillu died due to the injuries sustained, two other labourers were seriously injured and rushed to Goa Medical College Hospital at Porvorim. The injured are Rakesh Kumar and Bimle Singh, both from Bihar
It may be recalled that on 9th April Mohammad Tazadin from Bihar was buried alive in a landslide at a construction site at Zorriwado in Davorlim and police booked the contractor Abdul Shubham Shaikh along with the owner of the land Ghous Bi Sayyed for criminal negligence causing death of a person.
PSI Tulshidas Naik who is handling the case said investigations are still on and could not reveal the sections under which a case is booked. He however, disclosed that the legality of the scrap yard is also being looked into.
