Book tourist taxis now online in Goa

In a major initiative to reach-out to the growing number of foreign and domestic tourist coming to Goa, the North Goa Tourist Taxi Owners Association (NGTTOA) will launch its website by September to enable tourists to check fares for fixed distances and also to book a taxi, according to their president Ravindra Vengurlekar.

Tourist taxi owners and the state government and other tourism industry stakeholders appear headed for yet another confrontation on the eve of the new tourist season with chief minister Manohar Parrikar, earlier, this week promising to “resolve” the taxi issue by September.

Vengurlekar said, following discussions with other tourist taxi owners, they have decided that having booking counters is not a good idea. “A website would be more effective and we can assist taxi-drivers to get more business and reach out to more tourists coming to Goa” he explained.

He further asserted they’re also opposed to the entry of private taxi operators like Ola Cabs.
