Budget 2012: Petrol prices down by Rs 11 from April 2

Keeping true to the promises made prior to the election, the BJP-led government under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar has brought down the petrol price in the state by Rs 11 and this will be made applicable from April 2, 2012.

Reducing the Value Added Tax down to 0.1 per cent instead of planned zero per cent on VAT, Parrikar has managed to reduce the petrol price nearly Rs 11 in the state.

Many in the political circles within the state and national were waiting to see if the CM would be able to pull a rabbit out of a hat on the this front, considering that the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre is yet again planning to increase the petrol prices across the country.

So while the BJP-led government in the state has managed to for the time-being reduced the VAT and bring the petrol price down by Rs 11, will the expected increase on petrol prices at the Centre be a spoil sport on this for the people in the state.
