Bus Owners Threaten to Remain Off Roads

Private buses will remain off Goan roads on September 6 if their demand to set up a co-ordination committee to stop harassment by Kadamba Transport Corporation is not fulfilled.
Addressing media persons on Saturday All Goa Private Bus Owners Association General Secretary Sudip Tamankar accused the government of dragging its feet on this demand while pointing out that a memorandum demanding the setting up of a co-ordination committee was submitted in February this year.

He said the KTCL was receiving undue favours from the government and yet running into losses when in reality there should have been profits as the corporation does not spend any money on building infrastructure like bus-stands which are constructed by the government and handed over to it for maintenance.
The Association which had earlier asked the government to take over their buses due to surmounting losses, has now done a ‘U’ turn and offered to take over the KTCL and turn it into a profit making organisation within two months.
