Lucknow, Dec 16 (GCCurrentAffairs) After the protests by students of Jamia Milia University students in New Delhi regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the students of Nadwa College here also hit the streets, police sources said on Monday.
According to sources here, the students of Nadwa gathered and raised slogans at the college gate, late Sunday. Upon receiving information, police from various station reached the spot and sent the students inside.
The matter cooled down after the police spoke to the college administration.
Sources said that the atmosphere is normal now and a large police force is deployed here. The college is peaceful and there have been no reports of any untoward incidents.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appealed the students to maintain peace and harmony. He said that people should not pay attention towards any kind of rumors being spread by some selfish elements regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act, who have certain vested interests.
The UP CM said that the state government is committed towards providing security to every citizen and thus, it was necessary that everyone should abide by the law. Nobody is allowed to affect the state of peace and harmony in the state.
Following the pictures and videos of protests at Jamia Milia and Aligarh Muslim University over the CAA going viral on social media, the students of Nadwa college reportedly gathered at the main gate and started raising slogans.
After getting intimated regarding the situation, Additional Superintendent of Police (Trans-Gomti) Rajesh Kumar Srivastava reached Nadwa along with police and PRV.
The Nadwa college management also told the students not to indulge in protests.
