Kolkata, Feb 26 (GCSports) The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), the host of semifinal play between Bengal and Karnataka has appealed to the cricket fans as well as the players in all ranks to come in large number to cheer for the home side for the crucial match at Eden Gardens beginning Saturday.
The Bengal camp has been alerted after reports said that India wicket-keeper-batsman K L Rahul, who has great form now, has been included in the Karnataka squad for their Ranji Trophy semi-final against Bengal.
He missed Karnataka’s quarter-final match against Jammu & Kashmir after requesting to be rested.
The CAB also named its Bengal squad for Karnataka match keeping the side unchanged, which won the last three plays against Odisha ( quarterfinal) and Punjab and Rajasthan.
“We have urged the first and second division clubs to send their players to watch the match. We have also asked the district teams to send the players as also school level cricketers and coaching centres affiliated with us. We want everyone to come and support our team,” said CAB president Avishek Dalmiya.
Coach Arun Lal had said, ” the team is in the right frame of mind.Everyone is chipping in. We are playing like an unit.
There is a great atmosphere and camaredrie in the dressing room and a quiet belief that we can go the distance.”
Arun Lal had given the players two days rest to the players and asked to be on the ground from February 27 for practice before Karnataka match.
” They have been playing nonstop. Then we get back to the drawing board. It looks like Karnataka for the penultimate game.
They are good side, but to be the best we need to beat them and the self-belief is there,” Lal said.
Besides KL Rahul, Karnataka will also have the services of Manish Pandey, who like Rahul will return to the side after participating in India’s limited-overs tours against New Zealand.
However, Pandey was a part of the quarter-final match and scored a total of 72 runs as Karnataka humbled J&K by 167 runs to enter the semi-finals.
