It is now official, the decision on inducting Micky Pacheco into the cabinet will be taken only after Christmas as disclosed by All India Congress Committee General Secretary in charge of Goa B K Hariprasad.
Hariprasad has acknowledged not only the Nationalist Congress Party’s demand that Micky Pacheco be inducted in the cabinet by dropping its other MLA Jose Philip D’Souza, but also admitted to knowing about the revolt by 10 Congress MLAs over this development.
He said the party high command is yet to decide upon the matter in view of the objections from the Congress MLAs. While pointing out that the Chief Minister and Goa Pradesh Congress Party President were discussing with the 10 MLAs, he said the party high command would probably decide upon the matter after Christmas.
Hariprasad is also scheduled to visit Goa after Christmas to resolve this crisis.
Meanwhile, keeping on the pressure to keep Micky out, the 10 MLAs met Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and GPCC President Subash Shirodkar at the former’s official residence at Altinho on Thursday afternoon.
PWD Minister Churchill Alemao is reported to have point blank told the Chief Minister that the group would not support him if Micky is inducted in the cabinet and further stated that there can be no negotiation on the issue.
After the meeting with Digambar and Subash, Churchill Alemao called on the Governor Dr. S S Sidhu to appraise him of their stand and the likely effect on Goa’s political scene if Micky is sworn-in as a minister.
Churchill was accompanied by Sports Minister Babu Azgaonkar, Education Minister Babush Monserrate, Urban Development Minister Joaquim Alemao and MLAs Pandurang Madkaikar, Francis Silveira and Agnelo Fernadnes.
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat also called on the Governor subsequently and admitted discussing the present crisis with him.
