CABS Condemns Govt. Announcement

The Caurem Adivasi Bachao Samiti (CABS) has expressed shock and anguish over the government’s decision to permit 600 ore laden trucks to ply daily on the Caurem-Quepem road and termed it a move to help the mining industry at the cost of the local residents.

The CABS referred to the various representations made by them to the government regarding the various illegalities committed by the mining firms and regretted that their representations were not considered by the authorities at all.

While revealing that Chief Minister Digambar Kamat had admitted that the mines operating in Caurem were illegal, the CABS pointed out that the government has not taken any step to stop these illegal mines and therefore charged the government of conniving with people looting the nation through illegal means.

While threatening to intensify their agitation against the illegal mining operations in their village, the CABS urged all Goans to support their peaceful movement.
