Deputy Chairperson of Mormugao Municipal Council Kashinath Yadav who has filed his nomination to contest from ward No. 15 this time around, is found registered as a voter not in two but three different constituency.
According to the newspaper that broke the story on Thursday revealing that Kashinath along with his wife were registered as voters at the Vasco assembly constituency of Goa and also in Kathitkhas village under Machalishahar constituency of Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh, is now found registered in a third constituency.
According to reports, Kashinath along with his wife Usha are registered as voters in the Sikrara constituency in the same Jaunpur District of Uttar Pradesh with Kashinath’s name listed at serial No. 2491 and his wife Usha listed at 2491.
Interestingly Levinson Martins, Mormugao’s Sub-Divisional Magistrate and the Returning Officer for the municipal elections scheduled on 31st October changed his stance stating that appropriate action would be taken when required.
However, he also pointed out that his office has not yet received any official complaint against Kashinath. It may be recalled that earlier Levinson Martins had stated that anybody who is enrolled as a voter in a municipal area was eligible for voting.
Under the Representation of People’s Act, no person can be registered as a voter at more than one place.
